  1. S’mores By The Fire

There's always room for S'more love. Did you know that the Preston Barn features a beautiful fire pit? Add a s'mores bar for your guests to enjoy before the last dance or as part of your after party. That's right--just because the DJ stops playing doesn't mean you have to head to bed. After parties can be a great way to unwind with your nearest and dearest while staying at Old Drover's Inn.

For Preston Barn weddings, couples can add on a s’mores bar to their package! We take care of the supplies, setup, and cleanup!

Our friends at Bella Sophia Sugar Crafts created this beautiful s'mores bar for one of our happy couples. You can even take your s'mores to go with custom favors.

2. Donut you know how much guests love donuts?

Donuts are a fun and creative way to express simple or complex flavors that your guests will love. The Hudson Valley has many bountiful orchards, so apple cider and apple cider donuts are a popular treat in the fall. They can easily be displayed in many ways, used as part of a send-off station, or given as a favor. We recommend ordering your apple cider donuts from our friends at Barton Orchards or getting some unique flavors and looks from Glazed Over Donuts in Beacon.

3. I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!

Ice cream bars can be a fun way for guests of all ages to indulge during your reception. A local to New York State, we support the many flavors of Stewart's Shops. The Hudson Valley is also proud to be home to Jane's Ice Cream in Kingston, NY. If you are looking for a unique iced treat experience, the surrounding area is also home to mobile vendors like Ice Capps or the Ice Mother & Sons.

The Preston Barn also offers an ice cream Sundae Bar, with two ice cream flavors and tons of toppings for your guests to create their own custom bowl of deliciousness. Yum!

4. Sweet as Pie.

The Hudson Valley is bountiful in farms and orchards that provide the freshest seasonal ingredients for pies and tarts. You can offer your guests a variety of flavors showcasing the local harvest. Some ideas by season are:
Spring: Strawberry, Strawberry & Rhubarb
Summer: Apple, Peach
Fall: Apple, Pumpkin

Organic or locally sourced, our Event Coordinator can assist you in finding the perfect flavors to compliment your event.

5. All You Need Is Love … and Cupcakes.

Another way to add flavor options and color to your dessert table is with a cupcake display. Cupcakes are an affordable option to add choices for your guests without adding the cost of additional layers of cake. You can choose bite-size, full size, or a combination of both to fill your table. Another option for couples is to offer cupcakes to go in mason jars or boxes so that guests who want to leave early can do so without the mess.

Honorary Mentions:

  • Candy Buffet

  • Chocolate Fountain or chocolate-covered fruits

  • Cookies! There are tons of flavors to choose from and you could even get custom-made ones to match your theme. The Preston Barn actually includes a selection of homemade cookies with our coffee station, complimentary in our packages!

  • Mix it up! Have a dessert buffet with a bunch of mini-cupcakes, desserts in a cup (like tiramisu or pudding), cookies, mini-pies, cannolis, and other pastries for guests to pile onto their plates. We love the treats from McKinney & Doyle in Pawling!

No matter what dessert option you choose, we strongly encourage that the venue/caterer keeps a list of ingredients for each item on hand, that the serving staff is educated about any major allergens, and that there is clear signage for items if self-serve identifying any dietary or allergen warnings (ie: Vegan, Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Contains Nuts or Nut Free, etc.). Contact us now for all the information you’ll need and we’ll set up a private tour!
